Ultimate Guide To Speed Up Windows Computer!

If your Windows computer is starting to slow down and you can't recall when was the last time maintenance was done, wait no more! It's time for you to do it now easily. Speaking of speeding up a computer, there are already thousands of guides and different tools available on the Internet, but still I feel incomplete without writing my own  guide!

1. Clean Up All Junks
As time pass on, the amount of temporary files and log files, recycle bin items, browser history cache and cookies are growing big that may slow down your system. No matter how you love Windows Disk Cleanup, download the ultimate CCleaner which will do more magic later. Also, get CCEnhancer to boost it before cleaning. Have a tick on all the check-boxes best cleaning effect.

2. Uninstall All Unnecessary Programs
All OEM computers comes along a bunch of pre-installed nonsense junkware. Using CCleaner, uninstall all factory games, toolbars and programs you will never use on your system and don't bother to restart your system when prompted.

3. Clean The Registry
Every installation and uninstallation of programs adds more useless registry items and some changes them. Grab RefreshPC, reset Windows registry and settings, then delete all registry errors found by CCleaner. This step is a bit weird but it does the job to get the right registry run good. Note that it is always unwise to go into registry for any modification if you are not an advance.

4. Delete Unnecessary Startup Items
If not all, most programs adds in a startup item when Windows boots to ensure its program loads fast. Go to startup editor under CCleaner, disable all unimportant ones like updaters and other third-party products.

5. Optimize Windows Services
Deleting startup items ain't enough. Windows comes with a set of services where you can access by typing "Services" on start icon search bar. Most of them are set to automatic by default. It takes some time to identify which should stay as automatic, but  to set all other services to "Manual" if allowed. If you are not confident, Black Viper list will be a great assistant.

6. Remove Right-click Context Menu Items
System with long list of applications installed automatically has an equivalent many items when right-clicking, which takes some time to load and even hangs at times. Use ShellExView to remove the useless ones! After this, restart your system and you should notice the significant boost in boot time.

7. Adjust Visual Effects for Better Performance
Windows Aero, menu, sliding effects all takes up a little processor and memory. Why keep if you are not fancy of them? You can find more options under Performance Options in control panel.

8. Scan For Viruses and Malwares
Antivirus is a must, but no one is perfect. Malwares can hide and perform malicious activities in your system undetected for years. Get a copy of Malwarebytes Free or HitmanPro for throughout scanning. If you do not own one antivirus, try avast!, Panda, Avira, AVG or Microsoft Security Essential which are free for personal use.

9. Defragment Hard Disk
What is defragmentation? Files are separated after a long time and more time is needed to fetch them. Defragging with Windows Disk Defragmenter will bring files back into one.

10. Additional Tools To Speed Up Computer
Various free tools are great to provide additional boost to system performance:

Ultimate Windows Tweaker
CleanMem
Soluto

I have CCleaner and MalwareBytes installed on my computer... I must admit that they are some really good maintenance software, because I didn't have problems with my device and I can work properly on it. However, we need to have a good antivirus and firewall to be fully protected... following these simple steps we won't have big problems for sure. Thank you for the article.

Glad that you like this! Cheers.
