How To Disable Windows Update Automatic Restart!

Windows updates are indeed imperative to patch system from critical instability, errors as well as security holes. By default every Windows is pre-enabled to check for updates in every interval of time, then downloads and installs if available. Frustration comes by when Windows prompt to restart after a successful update. Ignoring  for some time results in automatic restart.

To disable automatic restart after an update, you can either use a command prompt or Local Group Policy Editor. However in this post I'll using Ultimate Windows Tweaker for Windows 7 and Vista which has been introduced in my previous post as it is the easier way for a novice.

Download and extract it. Then navigate to "Security Settings" tab and check "Disable automatic restart after Windows Updating". Apply the setting and you are done!

using v2.2.0.0, when I check "Disable automatic restart after windows updating" and relog, I get complaints from Windows Defender.

looking back at the UWT Security Settings, the automatic restart is unchecked again and indeed Windows Defender is checked though I did not touch it.

it seems "Disable automatic restart after windows updating" is inadvertently mapped to disable WD instead.
